Laser Eye Surgery

ILasik is the world's most commonly performed surgery to correct vision. By means of a wavefront 3D analysis, the "genetic impression" of your eye is determined individually. It contains, information about the curvature of their cornea. This is taken into account in the treatment of the cornea.

 

The principle of the ILasik process is based on the cooperation of two laser devices. The femtosecond laser, also known as intralase, first forms a lamella, the so-called flap, on the corneal surface. This is folded back to expose the underlying corneal tissue. The exposed corneal tissue is then reshaped with an excimer laser to correct the refractive errors.

Which patients are suitable for ILasik?

 

ILasik treatment is not suitable for young patients under the age of 18 because the eye is still subject to growth changes. Before treatment can be started, the refractive error of the eye must be constant for at least one year. This reduces the likelihood of follow-up treatment. Apart from the defective vision, the treated eye must be completely healthy. In the case of additional illnesses, treatment is excluded.

 

In addition, certain diopter values must not beexceeded during laser eye surgery:

-10 in the case of myopia,

-10in the case of astigmatism,

-6The patient's corneal thickness must be at least 0.55 mm.

If a patient is not suitable for ILasik treatment due to his diopter values or corneal thickness, there is an alternative treatment method.
